My social media streams have recently been increasingly inundated with articles, speeches and documentaries regarding the issue of ‘burnout.’ Despite being increasingly well-informed on the prevalence and extent of the issue, my close peers and I have found it hard to clearly understand the concept of a ‘burnt-out’ state; and if we cannot wholly comprehend what it is, how can we expect to recognise it in ourselves?
Adeel has a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, a master’s degree in Public Health and is now pursuing a career in Medicine. As a director of the UC Haiti Initiative, he has helped develop a specialised rheumatology clinic in Haiti, and is currently working towards increasing surgical capacity and training in the same area.
Kristen founded the Lancaster University Peer-Assisted Learning Society in his second year at medical school in order to provide medical students with resources and teaching sessions to aid with revision.
