Congratulations to Jess for her Highly Commended Zeshan Qureshi Award for Outstanding Achievement in Medical Education.
Jess was the Undergraduate Director of Medisense for 12 months. Medisense is a medical education group focused around the development of high quality innovative medical education resources. During her time with the group, Jess led the production of a new season of the MOSLERcast podcast, which involved facilitating script writers and arranging recording and editing the podcast.
“I am passionate about research, and wanted to increase my skill set to make me a better researcher, however uncomfortable that made me.”
She also revolutionised the volunteer programme, recruiting more undergraduate volunteers, preparing key documents and engaging medics with face to face meetings.
As part of her work with Medisense, she presented a systematic review of MedEd podcast literature at the Trainee Association for the Study of Medical Education (TASME) and was elected to the committee, where she now supports events promoting good research into medical education.
Finally, Jess developed a partnership between Medisense and FOAMdation to increase the reach of their podcasts to help educate more medical students.
“Having gotten past my own struggles with undergraduate education, I hope that through my work with Medisense, JASME, and daily peer/near-peer encounters stimulates a learning environment and better patient care.”
Well done Jess, and all the best of luck in your career.
