Congratulations to Pooja Devani on being awarded Runner Up for the Zeshan Qureshi Award for Outstanding Achievement in Medical Education.
Pooja is a medical student who has founded her own medical education company – Step2Med. This company provides courses and advice for school pupils wanting to apply to medical and dental school.
“As a GCSE and A-Level Tutor I realised early on that there was more to educating students than the satisfaction received when pupils have the “light-bulb moment”. It was a chance to inspire the next generation that could have a powerful domino effect for the years to come. It has the ability to further the knowledge we impart, onto inquisitive minds, who can then further their curiosity via research and other channels, all-in-all discovering greater knowledge and translating this to our patients one day.”
As well as this, Pooja acts as Vice President of the Paediatric Society, through which she runs a journal club and she is Conference Lead for the National Paediatric Conference at Birmingham University.
Following on from her recent contributions to neurology and anaesthetics textbooks, Pooja is now in the process of authoring two books regarding applying for the Academic Foundation Programme and life at medical school.
