Well done to Yasser for being a runner-up in the ‘Zeshan Qureshi Award for Outstanding Achievement in Medical Education’.
As the president of his medical school’s surgical society, Yasser identified that junior medical students were struggling to gain exposure to surgery. He therefore created a new second year SSC project, which proved very popular and prompted many students to consider a surgical career for the first time. This experience led to Yasser being invited to join the organising committee for international surgical conferences in Naples and Marrakech.
“Whenever I deliver a lecture, I try to be flexible and use a variety of modalities to make my lectures more understandable.”
Yasser is passionate about delivering high quality teaching to medical students and uses feedback to alter and improve his teaching style. He has been involved with one-to-one teaching, teaching on the ward, in surgical skills sessions and also in the clinical skills lab as well as being invited to teach on the National AFP course for two years running.
He has co-authored two book chapters in gastroenterology and hopes to undertake a Masters in Medical Education.
Congratulations Yasser and good luck in all of your future endeavours.
