Congratulations to Fatima Ali on achieving Highly Commended in the 2019 Zeshan Qureshi Award for Outstanding Achievement in Medical Education.

Zeshan Qureshi Award - Fatima Ali

I am a fifth-year medical student at Imperial College London and have completed a BSc degree in Business Management in Healthcare at Imperial College Business School. I have been avidly involved in social justice and health-peace advocacy on a local, national and international level. I am passionate about creating relevant and inclusive quality medical education for all and ensuring innovative practices are used to bridge the gaps in access to education.

As a medical student near the end of my undergraduate education, it has become clear to me that medical schools should be doing everything they can to help reorient their core curriculum to standards reflecting social accountability. This can be done by directing education, research and service activities towards addressing the priority health concerns of the community or region they have a mandate to serve. Medical students have a unique opportunity to get involved and create local sustainable change.

For example, learning about the impact of climate change on health, or being able to have the skills to innovate when you recognise technical or digital barriers in the workplace. Therefore, I created Management4Medics (@ManagementMedics) so help facilitate just that.
