Congratulations to Sophie Lewis on achieving Highly Commended in the 2018 Zeshan Qureshi Award for Outstanding Achievement in Medical Education.
Zeshan Qureshi Award for Outstanding Achievement in Medical Education - Sophie Lewis

As a junior doctor, Sophie has developed a number of medical education courses to support medical students and her peers. Her first experience of this was creating an OSCE preparation course for third and fourth year medical students at Cardiff University. Since then, she has also developed the popular ‘You’ve Been Bleeped’ training course for new doctors with the aim to improve confidence and increase patient safety. Other teaching courses that Sophie has designed include ‘Introduction to Life as an F1’ and ‘Applying for F2 Applications’.
As well as creating and running teaching courses, Sophie regularly assists with teaching Cardiff medical students clinical skills and delivers bedside teaching to students at her hospital.

“I thoroughly enjoy teaching and find that it cements my own learning and understanding. A good teacher can positively influence a medical student’s path. I hope to continue to develop my skills and teaching throughout my career.”

Sophie is a fantastic medical educator who has dedicated a lot of her own time to supporting the education of others. We are delighted to present her with this award.
